Can an adult be diagnosed with aspergers syndrome another word for autism?
Can a person have austism and not know they had until they are an adult?
Can a person have austism and not know they had until they are an adult?
My brother’s 2 and a half year old daughter didn’t seem to be developing language and social skills normally. After extended evaluation, a specialist told her parents she likely has Asperger’s Syndrome or a related “autism spectrum” disorder, although they will need to wait for another year or so to know for sure.
Does anyone have words of encouragement I can pass along to my brother, or know of any great resources for his family? Also, this may sound like a ridiculous question under the circumstances, but I am shopping for a Christmas gift for her, and I’m not sure what to do. I want to get a toy that might help her with interacting with people, but won’t frustrate her. Any ideas?
our son has been going through all sorts of testing for years now for different things. It is apparant that he has some sensory issues, he can get overstimulated easily and he had a receptive language delay of about a year.
however, in the last year, with speech and language therapy he seems to have advanced with his language skills, although the teacher is still a little bit concerned.
I have been looking into autism and I feel that my son may have some characteristics of autism. Not severe, but still does have some characteristics I’d say.
My husband and I are taking our son to see his family dr. again, but we have been given the run around before and seems as though we may need more testing yet again.
He has just turned 5 in December.
are there any good websites on Autism and it’s characteristics?
Thank you for your answers.
What can you tell me about it? do you have any good websites you could recomend for me?
If you have a child with this, what are his/her symptoms?
My son is in the process of being diagnosed with PDD-NOS
And I’m looking for all the information I can get ![]()
one thing about my son is that he lays awake in his bed for hours before falling asleep.. it’s like it’s really hard for him to fall asleep.
I’m wondering if that’s a normal part of an autistim spectrum disorder.. or if there’s something else we should be maybe looking into?
any information would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!!
My thoughts on being diagnosed late with Aspergers and if it can be a good thing or a bad thing.
I thought other parents could see what our 25 month old boy Luca does with his Autism, we thought he had Aspergers but just recently got the diagnosis that it’s plain Autism! We are so proud of him for knowing his Alphabet and Numbers. His favorite toys are chalk and his Magna doodle. So I guess they call it Autism now when a child actually “wants” to learn
Just so everyone in the world can see…little Luca is awesome!!! Also does anyone know anything about yourbabycanread.com? Just curious if it works
I was currently diagnosed with aspergers syndrome. What could i do to minimize it?

I am a Physical Education teacher at an Elementary school. I have a student in the Kindergarten that was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. When i first saw this little boy i thought he has Austim, because he would just wonder around the gym, wouldn’t talk to anybody, and would be by himself. My aide hit him one time but not hard because he was running back and forth on the bleachers while his class was sitting down in line. Then he started to cry. I took his class outside, he started walk off so i had to go get him and bring him back. he was just crying. so the grandmother of his class took him back to the classroom, he was crying and saying he wanted to go back. He told his teacher that he was going home. he stayed closed to the school.
But once i got to know him Austim has never crossed my mind again. He a very smart little boy,he has a good vocabulary. He talks to me and he now interacts with other children, but sometime he plays by himself. In PE he wrestle and hits other children. But, Most if all the boys in class do it. Today, I got an IEP on him, and he was diagnosed with autism spectrum, It say that he doesn’t respond to hugs and praises. And he doesn’t give eye contact. But, i don’t see that all. He always gives me hugs and tell me bye when he leaves PE or when i leave at the end of the day. He hold conversations with me and give me eye contact. From talking to him and being around him for almost a year, it doesn’t seems like his has autism. It just seem like he just spoiled. He is a sweet little boy.
His mother his concerned with his behavior, he told his mother that he hears voices in his head that tells him to do bad things. He said the voice he hears screams loud in his ear and he has to cover his ears to make it feel better. When i read that on his IEP i was really concern. I was really concerned. i was thinking it was schizophrenia. I called my mother and she said it maybe be a bad spirit. He connects to me because he probably feel a calming spirit about me.
I am really concerned. I want to help. I need Answers. Can somebody help. I don’t know why i so attached to this child. I felt an connection when i first got to know him
