I am looking for a teaching position that IS NOT in a mainstream school; I am looking for a job working at a school or organization that is specifically for Special Ed/ Autism/ SPD children….

I received some great answers to my last question but many of the suggestions were for people looking for jobs in states other than the one I live in… I am hoping there is someone out there who can help!

I’ve heard they can join all branches except the Marines but I’ve also heard that since 07 anyone with aspergers can’t join. Could someone explain this to me?
for people who answer like V2. Your not answering my question I’m asking if the US specifically forbids an aspie from joining. There are some people with the disorder obviously capable of serving.

My problem is how to interact socially with girls and learn the give and take of a relationship. I need to build my confidence and keep my head held high even when I get rejected. I usually establish friendship for a long time before I tell the girl that I like her. These girls tell me they prefer friendship over a relationship. The experiences I’ve had happened before I discovered my disability. Should I have made my move quicker to tell them I want to be more than just friends?

While research has suggested that the prevalence of autism spectrum disorders in American children was about 1 of every 150 children, a new government study estimates that the prevalence is more likely about 1 in every 91 children, reports US News & World Report. The study, which is published in the October issue of Pediatrics, estimated that 110 of every 10000 US youngsters will be diagnosed at some point in their lives with an autism spectrum disorder.
