The screening test used in the study also flagged some babies who later turned out to be developing normally, raising a false alarm for families. But early diagnosis and treatment of autism

A group of concerned people came together outside the American Embassy in London, to highlight the plight of Gary McKinnon, having recently been confirmed as having Aspergers Syndrome, a form of Autism. McKinnon faces extradition to the USA for alleged damage to various computer systems operated by the US military. The demonstration was organised by the London Autistic Rights Movement, to highlight that Aspergers Syndrome is considered a disability, and as such no extradition should even be considered. A vitally important visual ability and visual concept, to be able to visualize words accurately. This has been mentioned in the overview section LEARNING LETTERS. I worked mostly with 3rd, 4th and 5th grade children with learning problems. Instead of ABC, I began with the word, CALIFORNI A. It is a word each child had seen many, many times. They were asked to print the word CALIFORNIA on the chalk board, doing the best they could. Here are a few of their attempts: C laforena KA li F uneu C alfna C alufonyu Cal (15) K (17) C alaforn K alufornyu K alifornea S ackrawmintow Seldom was their printing neat. One girl combined printing and cursive (second word) The oddity was that many began the word with a K. You would believe that from these grades they would have been more perceptive, more aware. The Cal (15) was a boy in high school. I had very few from junior high or high school. The K (17) had been in special classes all his life, his story is told elsewhere. In the over 30 years I did this procedure, every child was able to give me the letters for CALIFORNIA in a half-hour or less of Developmental Vision work.* Also doing the word forwards and backwards, while bouncing on the trampoline. We move and must visualize, also. *There was one exception, he made it easily in the second session. The word for SACREMEN TO, excellent phonetics, as shown above, was a 6th grade girl who spelled California correctly. If I hadnt asked her to do Sacramento, I might have been fooled. These
